Last week was so much fun, I learned that Logic express really doesn’t support audio input objects, or at the least, you can’t create them for an audio input for your audio interface. Thanks to Apple’s lack of documentation on this in the reference manually for Logic Express, even though it mentions audio input objects and how they can be used.
A little information on what I was doing. I wanted to drop my yamaha 01V from the studio setup, and run all the gear directly into the computer, making recording a much easier process. So, I purchased a Presonus Firestudio and a Digimax FS, giving me 16 inputs. Set everything up, got things to work, but was annoyed that I could only hear the input in logic if record enabled the track. This just wouldn’t work, how could I have some gear playing while recording a vocal, or while I’m recording another piece of gear.
Solution, purchase Logic Pro, now I’m not mad about buying Logic Pro, I knew it would eventually have to happen, but the two days trying to figure out why I couldn’t create an audio input object was a bit much…
